VINTAGE TWO STRAND NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN necklace that has a wonderful light and airy look! The stark white irregular, hand made shell heishi alternates with small, irregular turquoise nuggets and natural coral colored shell discs or slices. There are a total of 78 turquoise nuggets that appear to be a mixture from different mines. The nugget colors range from a sky blue with very little matrix to others that have more of a green color with more matrix while others have a true turquoise color with tiny flecks of silver. The 12 irregular shell discs or slices have a basic coral color with darker and lighter coral tones mixed in them. These discs or slices are wider and narrower and almost look like bird fetishes. The necklace is strung on the original waxed natural cord and has a simple hook and eye closure. I believe the necklace to be from the 1970's into the early 1980's. It hangs 13" from the neck.
This is a great casual necklace by itself or layer it on "Santa Fe Style" as shown in the last photograph.
CONDITION: Great and wearable! The stringing cord has stretched with the weight of the nuggets and shells leaving a space at the neck closure of just cord, but I don't see any signs of breakage.
OVERALL LENGTH: 26"
PLEASE NOTE: The dress form used in the photographs is a child's, the necklace will not hang that long on an adult. Please see measurements!
