NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN, Cowboy, Trapper, Mountain Man, Scout, dark soft antique leather shot or powder pouch. Wonderful old patina on this small bag with the original encrusted leather lacing around the top and side. There is an old original piece of rusty, aged, metal with very worn grooves inside protruding from the top. This piece of metal has a soddered piece of metal that forms a loop. The metal loop has the remains of an old, native Indian hide strap still through it. Unsure if the pouch was used for shot or powder, but a perfect accessory for your antique rifle or pistol collection. Just a wonderful, old, authentic piece of history and as always I am wishing it could talk.
CONDITION: Good, as photographed and discussed. Missing the plug and the metal loop looks like it might have been repaired at some point in the pouch's historical life.
CIRCA: 1800's maybe even earlier (I welcome all comments or opinions)
SIZE: LENGTH: 6 1/4": WIDTH: 2" (widest): OPENING: 3/4"
Pouch was purchased about 30 years ago at an estate sale by Kansas City, Missouri. No information was with it.
