All three are paperbacks, the first: "People of The Buffalo", Military Art, Warfare and Change, Volume I, is presented in essay form by some of the best known and most respected scholars, observers, and Native Americans as the authors. The book is in honor of possibly the most respected scholar on Native studies, John Ewers. I have copied the list of contributors and the contents page directly under the group photograph. This book is 178 pages loaded with insight and numerous color and black and white historical photographs, maps and important artifact photographs. This is a must for a collector and scholar of Native American life, history, and warfare. Book is in good, lightly used condition, no notes or highlighting. THE SECOND BOOK is "Painted Tipis", by Contemporary Plains Indian Artists and is also done in a form of essay with illustrations. There are numerous historical photographs, maps and illustrations of tipi pertaining artifacts. The book is 79 pages featuring 16 full color illustrations of tipis along with the explanation of the "why" and "how" each tipi came to be painted as shown. Written for adults, but there are great lessons with each explanation. Book measures: 8 1/4" wide by 9 1/2" length, Library of Congress: 73-89447, C-1973. Book is in good condition, no notes, or highlighting, but cover does have a crease on the lower right. Cover is not torn and stays flat.
THE THIRD BOOK is "Montana's Indians, Yesterday and Today", and is part of Montana Geographic Series, written by William Bryan, Jr. and photography by Michael Crummett. The book is 144 glossy pages with tons of historical photographs and contemporary photographs of Montana's landscapes which pertain to the areas of different tribal land. There are maps which show the tribal boundaries, and each chapter explains and illustrates in great detail the numerous Native American's that call Montana home. Book measures: 11" wide by 8 1/2" length, ISBN: 0-938314-21-1, C-1985. Book is in good condition, no notes, highlighting or torn pages.
