Beautiful Original Oil Painting by Swedish painter Olle Skoggman… Dating to the mid 20th century. Tranquil and beautiful harbor scene with fishermen busy next to their boats. Reminiscent to me of the works by American painter Emille Gruppe.
A Biography of artist Olle Skogman:
Olof (Olle) Amandus Skogman , born November 19, 1878 in Grundsund , Bohuslän, died 1968, was a talented Swedish painter.
He was the son of sea captain Johan Anton Olsson and his wife Amanda. In parallel with the education for professional painters , Skogman studied at the School of the Swedish Society of Craftsmen 1895-1899 and at evening courses in croquet drawing at Valand's painting school 1898-1899. He traveled to Lucerne in Switzerland in 1902 where, while doing self-study, he provided himself as a decoration painter and copyist . He left Switzerland in 1909 to study for Émile Renard at the Académie Colarossi in Paris and again in Sweden in 1914 he studied for Carl Wilhelmson in Stockholm. He participated in the Salon des Indépendants in Paris in 1911 and in a collection exhibition at Wettergren & Kerber in Gothenburg in 1934 as well as in the Swedish Artists' Association's traveling exhibitions. Together with Helge Andersson he exhibited in Örebro and together with Gideon Ekholm in Gothenburg and together with Emil Westman in Kristianstad. He exhibited separately in, among others, Linköping, Borås, Lysekil, Uddevalla and Stenungsund. His art consists of archipelago environments from the West Coast with fishing boats, jetties and boats.
