Wearing a Haskell creation, especially her baroque pearls, automatically adds class and taste to an outfit. This necklace epitomizes that. Miriam Haskell designed wonderful affordable costume jewelry from the 1920's thru the 1960's. She is best known for her gilt findings and filigree, faux pearls, Austrian crystal beads, blown glass Murano beads and, above all, rose montees. Her vintage pieces remain highly collectible. The company remains in business to this day. This choker necklace utilizes her famous faux pearls. They vary in shape and color. THere are large and small irregular round pearls as well as tubular ones. They are predominantly oyster white in color and interspersed are some golden ones. This adds interest to the necklace. Being baroque, they are not smooth and their surfaces are uniquely irregular. Tiny white seed pearls are strung in between the pearls. The focal point of the piece are three round gold tone medallions. They are large ( 1 1/4" diameter) and have three concentric textured circles terminating in a center that has a high domed faux pearl surrounded by another circle of rhinestone crystals. The medallions are very striking although they show minimal slight signs of wear. (Looks much worse in picture due to camera's magnification.) An amazing feature of this necklace is in the construction of it. Behind the medallions are strands of small seed pearls which connect the medallions to each other and to the pearl necklace. The necklace closes with a slide clasp that has a patent number on it. There is a small oval name tag stating "Miriam Hassell" attached to a ring at the end of the necklace. The necklace measures 18 1/2" long. THis necklace is is great shape with no real issues other than the patina on the medallions (if you call that an issue....it is vintage!). More than a strand of pearls, this choker necklace is immediately recognizable as "Haskell pearls" and is sure to elicit many compliments and accolades! Condition: Excellent- Vintage Condition
