Strikingly different from other Lanvin items, this necklace, circa 1980's, Paris, still maintains Lanvin's high standards of excellence and high design. Lanvin, the oldest fashion house in France, never fails to please even when it goes beyond its usual look. THis necklace definitely makes a statement but does so in a most unusual way and almost whimsical way. Most of the necklace is made from lucite which gives the piece an airy and breezy quality to it. It doesn't take itself too seriously!!! But at the same time, remains gorgeous. THe long double stranded necklace is made from round milky white lucite beads. They are smooth and when looked at closely the size of the beads on one strand are slightly smaller than on the other strand. The statement clasp is large and oval shaped. It is a shiny goldtone metal upon which there is a large creme lucite flower. The flower resembles a sunflower and is intricately carved. It encompasses most of the oval and it is raised, thus giving depth and dimension to the piece. The clasp opens and closes the necklace with a push in device. The back of the pendant is open work with two sets of the double "L" and there is the oval cartouche stating "LANVIN PARIS" with the "c" mark. The necklace is in perfect condition without any signs of age (no scratches on the goldtone metal!) The necklace measures 34" long and the pendant is 2"h x 1 5/8"w.
The length of the necklace gives it drama. The material used (lucite) gives it an informal even playful, look. The lovely clasp adds statement. Perfect on any color dress in the summertime, this necklace is the "cat's meow." Condition: Excellent VINTAGE Condition
