THis choker/collar necklace by Judith Leiber, circa 1980, is a stunning example of costume jewelry at its best. Judith Leiber, known throughout the world for her exceptional purses, also created a line of jewelry that was spectacular and superior. THis necklace is enameled a deep pumpkin color that is warm and striking. It has enameled links that are articulated so that the collar is flat when worn. There are 19 links each measuring 1". On the front the enameling in each section is in between thick vertical goldtone lines. On top of the enameling are six tiny stylized floating hearts. The gilt goldtone metal is shiny and bright throughout the necklace. The necklace is obviously well made and uniquely designed. It has a thick and chunky look to it. It closes with a push down clasp that actually is camouflaged as part of the vertical lines. You need to look for it. The Judith Leiber signature is engraved on the back. THis necklace measures 18 "long x 7/8"wide. When closed the inner diameter is 5", outer 6.5" . This choker necklace is in great shape without any issues. It looks as though it was never worn. When doing my homework on Leiber jewelry, I found three other similar necklaces identical except for the color. THe prices were $750, $850 and $2,400. OUCH!!!!! Just mentioned as proof of the quality of this necklace. Anyway, this stunning statement piece would look great on a black outfit or a white dress. Another "head turner" by the queen of "head turners." Condition: Excellent VINTAGE Condition
