Rare and unusual this necklace by American fashion designer Nettie Rosenstein circa 1950's, certainly makes a statement. Rosenstein designed clothing accessories and jewelry that to this day are coveted by all lovers of retro fashion. Her jewelry, whether whimsical in design or classic in style, was always expertly designed and crafted. This necklace is atypical for Rosenstein. It is designed to replicate a elephant tusk necklace. It is of choker length measuring approximately 15 1/2" long. It has two faux tusks each 4" in length that is made of Lucite or some kind of resin. The tusks are ivory colored and they taper as they extend upwards. They have very subtle striations and marks like genuine ivory. They are smooth and shiny. They are capped by shiny goldtone caps. In between the tusks is a domed medallion encased in shiny goldtone metal. The medallion hangs down 2" from the necklace by thick goldtone chain. The medallion including the goldtone rim measures 1" diameter. Nice decorative chain extends almost 4" from the tusks at each side. The necklace closes with a hook and eye closure. The back of the piece reflects Rosenstein's high standards. The tusks are covered on the back with pebbled goldtone plates that have a decorative border.....this is on the back!!!!! The Nettie Rosenstein signature cartouche is engraved on the back. In addition, the back of the medallion has an equally decorative plate that has engravings and artistic designs (this is so nice that it could easily be on the front!). THe necklace is in great condition. The goldtone is bright and shiny, There are pin point marks on one tusk, nothing really to speak of. Great designer, unusual design, timeless designer, timeless design. Condition: Excellent VINTAGE Condition
