Offering a vintage chatelaine brooch by Judith Leiber circa 1980's. Leiber, known for her wonderful purses and handbags, also created a line of accessories and costume jewelry. These items were produced meeting the same high standards as her bags. This brooch is a an interesting style being a chatelaine type, meaning there actually 2 brooches attached by chains. The entire piece is very large and ornate and can be considered to be a statement brooch. It is certainly a piece of jewelry that will turn heads and evoke conversation. The brooch is a bright and shiny goldtone....the gold is of the type that has a lot of "yellow" in it. Even though it is of the Florentine type, the brooch shines and has a gilt effect. The major piece is a large paisley shape with an attached fan shape and a dangling floral like charm. The gold is perforated and there are small gold beads scattered throughout. There are 4 raised floral like accents each with an faux opal bead in the center. This part of the brooch is very decorative and ornate. It has depth and dimension and the dangling charm gives it fluidity. There are 3 decorative small linked chains that attach the paisley piece to a smaller figural pin of a bird resting on a branch. The bird is highly detailed with feathers and other characteristics. Both brooches close with safety closures and the oval Judith Leiber signature cartouche is stamped on the back. The measurements for the paisley brooch are 3 1/2"h x 1 7/8"w, the floral piece has a 1" diameter, the chains measure about 9" and lastly the bird is 1 1/8"w x 7/8"h. The piece is in outstanding condition and looks as if it was never worn. What a piece! Ornate, opulent, unique, different, classy, "over the top" and lastly, Leiber! This chatelaine brooch has it all! Condition: Excellent VINTAGE Condition
