Offering a vintage choker necklace by Crown Trifari, circa 1960. Trifari made costume jewelry since its founding in 1927. However, it wasn't until Alfred Philippe was hired as head designer in 1930 that Trifari produced their finest pieces, including Lucite jelly bellys during WWII. Trifari is now part of the Monet group. This particular necklace is a lovely modern design piece by Crown Trifari. It design name is Shakira. Its centerpiece is a large lucite design piece in a butterscotch color. The color is bold and dramatic. THe lucite is marbleized with a few veins. Its resembles tusks or horns and has goldtone raised floral designs with dark anodizing. This has an effect of depth and contrast. The piece has a chunky and heavy look to it although it weighs only 1.8 ounces. Attached to the horn like piece are goldtone double link chains and the necklace ends with a spring clasp. The necklace length is 12 7/8". The horn centerpiece is 4 5/8" w, its height tapers to 1/4"h at the ends from 7/8"h at the center. Its thickness is 1/2"at the center slimming to 1/8" at the ends. The Crown Trifari logo with a crown over TRIFARI (c) is affixed to the back of the center piece, while the "T" charm hang tag hangs from the chain. This modern piece is in great condition without any visible signs of wear. It is a head turner and sure to be noticed. A stunning piece of modern design from the 60's.
