Vintage Cobra Snakeskin with Custom Embellishments

When I first saw this purse I thought it was made from the skins of the python and karung snakes. However, the seller, who has an extensive amount of knowledge of snakeskin purses, told me that part of the bag was made from the cobra snake. Knowing nothing about this, I did a little research and learned the difference between the cobra (not King Cobra) and the python snake. It seems that the python kills its prey by constricting it, waiting for it to suffocate and die. The cobra kills with its bite, its venom being very poisonous and lethal. The cobra snake is usually shades of brown while the python, depending on the type (morph) may be yellow, white, pink, lavendar, grey etc and of course, brown. Looking at the purse, it is clearly divided into three sections. Could it be that the center section is cobra skin while the other two are python and karung? Then the purse would be made from 3 types of snakeskin. Just wondering! The purse has an '80's vibe and it is a half moon shape and is medium sized. It is very curvaceous. The sections are shades of brown with the karung snakeskin is lighter than the others. The other sections are more of a milk chocolate brown. The middle section (cobra?) has ruching resulting in significant pleating. The two top sections also have dominant pleating which creates sections that appear poofy but they are not. They are just the result of expert handling of the skins resulting in sections that have depth and dimension. The back and the front are the same. There is a custom ornament on the front. It is very '80's looking have a large round plastic backing. This circle is a plethora of brown shapes but if one looks carefully a "line" of snakeskin scales can be seen. On top there is a large protruding "button" made from small round and tubular brown, black silver, bronze and gold beads. There is a black dangle on the bottom. There is a long crossbody strap made from brown leather with a drop of 23". The bag closes with a zipper that has a leather pull tag. The inside is lined with a deep brown leather (faux?) lining. There is a zippered pocket. There isn't any identification inside. The inside is very clean. The bag measures 10"w x 8"h x1+"d. The bag is in great condition showing only minuscule indications of use and age.
This bag is big enough to hold most important items and would look great with tan, brown, and beige attire. Perfect for going out for a nice lunch or dinner. Just be careful those nasty snakes know their place (on the bag) and don't get you! Condition: Excellent - VINTAGE Condition
