Vintage Anthony Luciano Large Exotic Skin Purse with Golden Tones

This versatile bag can certainly hold all your "stuff". This bag can easily be worn as a dressy everyday work bag or a bag befitting a semi formal dinner or occasion. I guess the only exception to its usage is a "black tie" event. Designed by Anthony Luciano, it has all the characteristics of the high end bags that Luciano produces. Luciano has said that craftsmanship was in his blood and this bag typifies that. His bags are sold in top tier stores such as Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. His bags are quite pricey and his following is large. There are so many things going for this bag, every time I look, I find another. The bag is an east west bag meaning it is wider than it is tall. It is quite large and the bottom is significantly wider than the top. There is a flap that covers nearly the entire front of the bag. The bag is covered with the skins of the python snake. There are large scales and smaller ones. They are set in a symmetrical pattern with the ones in the middle having a completely different look and shape than the others. The scales are in very good condition. The skins are dyed a golden color. They are bright. A deep charcoal grey color can be seen between the scales in the background. Now it appears the middle section may have been given an additional color wash since shades of light mauve and cream show through. Amazing...what an effect!!! The edges of the flap and all around the perimeter of the bag has woven whip stitchery made from a creamy colored soft leather. On one side two gigantic tassels are attached at the top of the bag. The fringes are very dense and long and they are topped with a decorative python skin cap. The cream-colored leather is also used as a carry strap. It is woven and looped and in itself is a very decorative feature. Its drop is 19". There are strong magnetic discs under the python skins on the front and on the inside of the flap which is suede backed. The suede is similar to raw hide. When the bag is opened there are two cut out flowers made from the skins that attach the carry strap to the bag. Again, attention to detail and very unusual. Inside there are two open compartments and a zippered one in the middle with a "lucky" penny attached to the pull tag. The black fabric "Anthony Luciano" label is sewn inside. Now the inside would be spotless but there is a ball point pen streak on the inside of the flap. It meanders upwards and there are indications that someone tried to "erase" it, but failed. It is definitely there...only you know if it is a deal breaker. Wouldn't bother me considering the quality of the bag. The measurements are 13 1/2"w x 6 1/2" x 3"d. Besides the pen markings, this purse is in great condition without any other indications. Versatile and eye catching, this bag will serve many needs. Condition: Excellent - - VINTAGE Condition
