No one does it better than the French and there isn't any other color that draws so much attention than the color red. This small purse has both! This purse reflects French creativity and elegance and, at the same time, the color red reflects a boldness and strength. It is no wonder this purse is such a statement maker. The bag is wider at the bottom than at the top and it is very curvaceous. It is made from a luxurious silk fabric that has a slight sheen. It is very tightly ruched at the top resulting in many flowing pleats. The color is a strong Christmas red. It is bright and intense. The frame is a half moon shape. It is a gold tone metal with large faux pearls and rhinestones on top. The faux pearls "stand upright" and in the middle there are 3 unusual rhinestones (?) set in a flower shaped bezel. Most unusual and it requires a close look. There is a very ornate pull tab that is circular with concentric clear beads sewn with gold thread surrounding a cluster of small faux pearls. To top all this off there is a twisted silk cord that is the carry strap and also is an embellishment near the top of the purse. It twists and loops and is creatively used as ornamentation. The drop of the carry strap is 16". The inside is lined with the red silk. "DePinna France" is stamped in gold letters inside . ( DePinna was a men's and women's high end clothier founded in 1885 and located in NYC. It closed in 1969). The inside is in fabulous condition without any indications to note. The measurements are 7"w x 5 1/2"h x 1 1/2"d. The purse is in great condition with a tiny bit of metal wear on the gold frame. I believe this bag was made in the 1960's in the style of French bags of the '40's and '50's. The use of the red silk cord gives the bag a more modern vibe than those bags of the past.
The contrast of the color and the ornamentation creates a stunning statement. So very French! Condition: Excellent VINTAGE Condition
