I just love these Marheta bags from Brazil! They are from Rio De Janeiro, probably made during the mid century and the embroidery can be sewn on fabric or vinyl. This particular bag is vinyl and it is a fold over clutch. The embroidery first attracted me to this type of bag since it is always so cheerful and charming. The embroidery, done in the silk stitch, creates bouquets of flowers. On the front the flowers are large and they are done in shades of pink and blue and yellow. There are outstretching leaves done in shades of green. The embroidery on the back are vines of yellow and blue creeping flowers and leaves. Both sides capture the beauty of flowers and the great skill involved in creating such a palette. The bag open/closes with a snap. The inside is lined with a pale pink fabric and there is a slip pocket. A small coin folder is included. The label " Original Marheta Rio De Janeiro is sewn inside. The inside is very clean with minimal signs of use and age. The clutch measures 9 1/2"w x 5 1/2"h x 1"d. The bag is in wonderful condition. I love that the embroidery is sewn on vinyl. This bag is a so cheerful and pretty. It's like the beginning of Spring.
I can almost hear birds chirping in the background. Condition; Excellent VINTAGE Condition
