This mini bucket handbag by Renaud Pellegrino is done in patriotic and nautical colors and its unusual shape illustrates Renaud Pellegrino's talent for sculptural shapes. Pellegrino showed this ability early in life and his mother enrolled him as an apprentice working with leathers. He eventually created fashion items for large fashion houses such as YSL and in 1983 opened his own boutiques throughout the world. He is known for inventing the popular shaped "cardinal hat" handbag. This bag is mod looking and statement making. It is a mini bucket and is made from mixed materials. The bottom is tightly woven straw raffia dyed a deep navy blue. The top is done is a deep ruby red plastic. The bag closes with a magnetic snap and when closed the top nicely folds into itself (see pictures). The very top is wider than the bottom. There is a narrow border of the blue on the top edges of the red. This small accent is significant to the appearance of the bag. Red and navy are colors that complement each other and they present a classic and timeless appearance. There is a wide red patent leather carry strap that has two silver tone buckles at the intersection of the bag and strap. The inside is lined in a navy blue grosgrain fabric. There are four open pockets that go around the circumference of the bag. The black leather label stating "Renaud Pellegrino (address) Paris Made in France" is affixed to the bottom of the bag. The inside is very clean. The measurements are 10"w x 5"h x 5"d. This bag presents as though it was rarely used, there are minimal signs of age and use. This bag is so cool. It is lightweight, easy to carry and has plenty of storage space. The shape is amazing. It folds so naturally onto itself....what creativity and engineering on the part of this talented designer!
