Upon first look, this beaded purse by Delill, circa 1960, presents as a statement making, colorful bag. However, upon close inspection, it is clear that it is so creative and remarkable in its design and execution. I needed to know how Delill accomplished such an intricate and detailed purse. So I carefully examined it with magnification and discovered its secrets. However, starting from the beginning, Delill was a very prestigious mid century handbag fashion house that sold to luxury stores. This bag has a typical shape being somewhat rounded at the bottom and more "squarish" towards the top. The bag grabs your attention by its coloring and materials used. There are apple green small round glass beads that outline different shapes throughout the bag. These beads are bright and command your attention. They "pop". There also are deeper green tubular shaped beads as well as bronze, gold and greyish metallic beads throughout the palette. Some small squarish beads are randomly scattered, not strung in continuous lines. These "lines" have a lot of swirls, scrolls and curves. There is dimension and depth. The heavy beading is on both sides of the bag. But that is not all.....the amazing design is a result of the background upon which the beads are sewn. This background seems to be made of different tiny stitches sewn into patches of different colors, such as orange, rust, brown, red etc. The beading is sewn on top of these patches of color. The result is an amazing palette that has a Persian flair and a paisley vibe resulting in an appearance that is stunning. What creativity!!! There is an apple green carry strap made of the small beads with a drop of 6". A gold tone kiss clasp with centered crystals close the bag, The inside is lined with a forest green satin. There is an open slip pocket. "Made in Belgium Expressively for Delill" is imprinted inside the bag in gold lettering. The inside is very clean. I don't think this bag was ever used. The measurements are 8 1/2"w x 8" h x 1". The bag is in great condition without issues to note. I have never seen a bag use such a unique technique to achieve such a beautiful piece of "wearable art." This bag is amazing and beyond outstanding. Condition: Excellent VINTAGE Condition
