Every now and then, you can find a Leiber purse that is different from the rest. This purse has many of the trademarks of Leiber bags but it also has accents that are surprising and unusual. It is a combination of both the old and the new. Its shape is typical of many Leiber bags that being rounded with an arched frame of stones. The material used is a ribbed black silk. The ribbing has a black on black appearance. It is very soft yet durable. There is minimal ruching at the top which results in some pleating on the body. There is a gold tone "flower" clasp that comes from behind and snaps shut. It billows outwards and has small bezel set colored stones as an accent. It is puffy and has depth. Now for the unusual. On the front of the bag there are four extra large rectangular "jewels" that are raised and faceted. They are aurora borealis and they reflect the light shining all colors of the rainbow. There are four rows of small round prong set Swarovski crystals that are also aurora borealis. They too have a luster and a brilliant shine. The large stones combined with the smaller rounds present a modern look that contrasts with the more traditional elements of the bag. There is a gold tone serpentine chain with a drop of 20". The chain can be tucked inside the bag using Leiber"s optional internal hardware. The inside is lined with a black satin like fabric. There are two open pockets and the gold tone "Judith Leiber New York" identification panel is affixed inside. The inside is very clean with the only indications of age on the inside of the black fabric frame. The bag measures 7 1/2"w x 5 3/4"h x 1 1/4"d. The bag is in great condition. The only word for this bag is "cool." Leave it to Leiber to combine the old and the new resulting in an ultra "cool" purse! Condition; Excellent VINTAGE Condition
