This outrageous bib necklace by William DeLillo is not for everyday use but for that special formal occasion when a statement is desired and needed. And what a statement it is!!! William Delillo was born in Belgium and came to the USA in the 1950's. His talent as a jewelry designer lead him to work for Cartier, Chanel and Harry Winston among other prominent high design firms. He partnered with Robert F. Clark, the head designer for Miriam Haskell, and they created art jewelry in limited numbers until 1976. Their pieces are known for their incredible detail and their jewelry is highly collectible and expensive even today. Their bib or collar necklaces are especially dynamic and bold and consequently they are among the most desirable pieces. This gold tone bib necklace would be fitting for Cleopatra. It is so highly detailed that words do not do justice to this piece and a "picture says a thousand words". So please study the pictures as my words, in this case, are inadequate to describe the piece. Obviously, it is circular in shape. It is a gold tone that is not too shiny but has a beautiful luster. There is an inner and outer row of fluted beads that are capped with decorative accents. There are connectors that attach "wreath like" pieces to these outer rows. These wreaths have scrolls and curved "lines" and they are highly detailed. In fact, there isn't an inch of this necklace that doesn't have decorative intricate engravings and etchings. A magnificent work of art!!! The closure is a clasp whose sides fit into one another with a click. The back of the clasp has a cartouche with "deLillo" printed inside. The width of the inner circumference of the piece is 3 3/4" and the outer circumference is 7 1/2", End to end the length is 14 1/2" (difficult to measure because of the curve). The drop is 2 1/4". It weighs over 8 ounces. This will probably fit the average neck size. This is a impeccable piece that is not often found especially at this price. A definite mega statement piece that is timeless and classic. A "wearable piece of art." Condition: Excellent VINTAGE Condition
