Think about how our (humans) skin changes in 30 years. Wouldn't it be nice if our skin would remain in its youthful state. However, our skin, as well as the skin of the python, experiences vast changes as the years pass. That is the case with this lovely Judith Leiber handbag. As I have said countless times before, lifting of the python scales is a natural process consistent with the aging process. It is not considered a fault but some people still shy away from these vintage bags. I have also said many times that I judge the beauty of a vintage bag on the gestalt or "wholeness" of the bag, meaning what is the overall appearance of the item? I am not one who concentrates on issues that don't really compromise the appearance of the bag. All that being said, this bag exemplifies this situation. It is a wonderful Leiber bag done in shades of purple python skins. The skins appear to have "ink blots" throughout done in lavender and amethyst tones. The bag is ruched in an interesting manner resulting in a large middle section and two sections on each side. The sections are trimmed in thin python skin trim. Depth and dimension are a result. There are sections where there is some up lifting of some of the scales. I have seen worse. Nevertheless, this is not seen at first glance and remains an "issue" that is in the background. The frame has a scalloped vibe and the python skins are inserted between the thin gold tone lines of the stylized metal frame. There is a push down closure with an amethyst stone in the middle. There is a heavy and substantial gold tone serpentine chain that can be keep inside using Leiber's internal mechanism. The drop is 21". The inside has the skins on the upper parts while the lower parts are covered with a deep purple grosgrain fabric. There is an open pocket and a zippered one. There is a gold tone "Judith Leiber" plaque affixed inside. The inside has some indications of use and age. The measurements of the bag are 9 1/2" x 8"h x 2"d. Besides the age appearance of some of the scales, the bag is in wonderful condition. The color is sublime while the tie dye effect is soft and appealing. The heavy chain plays a significant role in the appearance. I am pricing this with the age process in mind, although I don't think it is an issue. Condition: Very Good + VINTAGE Condition
