All metal plated purses have been popular for centuries. Leave it to Judith Leiber to take this style to new heights!!! The purse being offered here is an example of what a creative designer can produce with just one material, namely metal. This minaudiere is small but is on the larger side of Leiber's typical "small treasures." It measures 7 1/2"w x 5"h. The gold plating combines a matte gold with a shiny repousee design. The finish on most of the bag is the shiny gold while the remainder is done in a brushed Florentine finish. The shape is rectangular with curved corners. It has a bulbous appearance. The repousee design has a floral theme and it is deeply molded with raised elements. There are three panels with identical designs and the hammered relief obviously creates depth and dimension. The bag opens and closes with a large "kiss" clasp. There is a double jewelry quality gold chain that can be kept inside the bag using a very early version of Leiber's internal mechanism. This bag is a relatively early one. The drop is 14". The inside is lined with the Leiber gold lame leather. There is a divider inside that creates two compartments within the bag. The gold "Judith Leiber" identification panel is affixed inside. The inside is in wonderful condition with minimal indications of use and age. The purse measures 7 1/2"w x 5"h x 1 1/2"d. My iphone 6 fits inside. The bag has a beautiful appearance. However, there is one "issue", unfortunately a common occurrence with all metal bags. There is a "dent" at the very bottom corner, it has been repaired but is still visible, especially when looking for it. The gold wash has slightly faded in this area but it is at the very bottom corner of the bag so it is not that noticeable. There is a tiny "dent" on the upper corner of the bag. These factors are significant when pricing this bag. I have often said that it is the "gestalt" or whole that matters when appraising the beauty of a bag. At least that is how I see it. The picker "Mike" on the History channel show "American Pickers" seems to have the same opinion. Here's the chance to own a timeless and classic Leiber minaudiere at a ridiculous price. Being sold "as is". Still beautiful with a little blemish. (who doesn't have blemishes?). Condition: Very Good - VINTAGE Condition
