This cord/gimp handbag is a blast from the past, circa 1940's-'50's. It is a nice size and very well made. It is soft structured and slouchy. It is made of black cord or gimp that is designed in a concentric pattern of stylish ovals that begin large and end as small ovals in the center of the bag. The cord is in very good condition. However, it is the clamper clasp that makes this bag a "statement"bag. It is made of a thick bar of chunky clear lucite. It is deeply and heavily carved with slanted "spikes" surrounding a large "pyramid" shaped piece. There is an amazing reflective quality to this piece, very rarely seen in lucite. It is very dimensional and has deep depth. It is very large measuring 7 1/2"w x 1"h x 3/4"d. It was obviously carved by a very skilled artisan. The bag opens by lifting this lucite bar. There are two cord carry straps with a drop of 6". The inside is lined with a blackish satin fabric. (The black color is faded) There are two open slip pockets and one zippered one. The pockets are bordered with a gold trim. This is usually a sign of a high end bag. There is no maker's name or identification. The inside shows some signs of wear of age although it is not soiled. The bag measures 9 1/2"w x 7"h x 4"d. The bag is in great condition with an occasional sign of use on the cord. Nothing significant, mentioned for accuracy. This handbag has character and style. It is very retro but yet it still has many good days ahead. Will obviously garner many compliments and accolades. Condition; Excellent- - VINTAGE Condition
