This mid century strange handbag is completely covered with beads. Circa 1960's, it is uniquely different and unusual. The bag is a box bag and it has a cube like shape. The top lid of the bag has a slight padded and rounded effect. There are five different "scenes" on the sides of the bag and the top. These scenes depict activities of very primitive or tribal people. The figures are done in bright white beads outlined in black tubular beads. Several figures appear to be using a spear or some other weapon, others are giving an offering, and one appears to be the "king." They are all simply done in a primitive and basic manner. Most scenes have beaded foliage done in slate grey and white beads. They are additional beaded elements and tiny clear beads over the entire bag. The figures are dimensional and give the bag depth. There is a shiny chrome frame and a flip up chrome decorative clasp. A beaded carry handle has a drop of 4 1/2". The inside is lined with an off white moire fabric and there are two open compartments. A mirror is fitted into the inner lid of the bag. It has lost some of its silvering. The inside is in good condition with the expected indications of age and wear. The bag measures 4 1/2"w x 5"h x 3 1/2"d. There isn't any indication of maker or country of origin. The bag is in great condition. It is basically very clean with a small spot on the very bottom. This is a very unusual and unique bag. The only other one I have ever seen is in my collection. What's is all about??? Its mystery fascinates me! Condition: Excellent - VINTAGE Condition
