When I first saw this handbag, I wanted to start peeling the little "dots" in order to eat them. If you remember the candy buttons strips from the mid century on, you will understand what I mean. This vintage bag from the 1950's-'60's has a thick band of dots or buttons similar to the beads on the paper strips of the candy. And by the way, those little dot were sugary delicious!!! The bag was produced by B.B. and it was made in Hong Kong. It is oblong shaped with rounded sides. The material used is a pearlized white lucite. The streaking throughout the lucite adds interest. The band of candy dots comprise most of the body of the bag. It is slightly recessed from the lucite. It is 2 1/4"h. The dots are placed onto a mesh like panel. The dots are pastel colored, including baby blue, mint green, buttercup yellow, baby pink and white. The beads are dimensional and provide texture. There is gold toned hardware throughout which includes rounded studs. The lid closes with a twist like clasp and there is a pearlized horseshoe shaped lucite handle anchored with gold tone hardware. The drop is 4 1/2". There is a piano like hinge. The bottom of the bag is covered with white buttons or dots. The inside is covered with a white grosgrain material. There is an open slip pocket and a sewn in label stating B.B. Made in Hong Kong. There is a rectangular mirror inside the lid. The inside has indications of wear and age. The measurements of the bag are 8"w x 6 1/4"h x 4"d. Upon close inspection I did notice a crack that doesn't go through on the front of the bag and another more significant crack in the bottom banding of the lucite. These issues do not effect the function or the appearance of the bag. It is priced accordingly. The bag remains a fun and funky retro bag from the past. So delicious!!!
