This bag presents beautifully. It is from the 1950's and was part of an Australian designer Helen Sattler's collection. I believe she modified it by giving it a bright gold wash over the knitted body. The purse is medium sized, roomy enough for i phones etc. It is wider at the bottom and narrower at the top. The body is roundish. There is gentle ruching on the front resulting in flowing pleats. The body is made of a yarn knitted over mesh. It is soft structured. I do not know what the original color was. It appears to have been painted a gentle mauve color upon which a bright gold paint is brushed. The effect is dazzling and intense. The frame is a brushed gold tone. It has an interesting shape. It is linear and angular. The middle portion is lower than the two sides. A plastic (lucite?) marbleized brown bar clasp fits into this middle section. The bar has a pearlized effect and is chunky and thick. There is a decorative matte gold chain with a drop of 23". The chain has detailed links and is very interesting. There is an internal mechanism which enables the chain to be safely tucked inside the bag and worn as a clutch. The inside is lined with a bronze shiny satin fabric. There is an open slip pocket. There are minuscule signs of age and wear. The measurements of the bag are 12"w x 6"h x 1 1/2"d. The bag is in great condition. Obviously Helen Sattler knows how to transform vintage items into modern fashion and yet keep its retro vibe. This bag does just that and it is a real delight! Condition: Excellent- VINTAGE Condition
