Commonly referred to as a homage to a "clam shell", I see a blossoming and blooming chrysanthemum when I look at this lovely minaudiere by Judith Leiber. It is both gold tone and silver tone metal and therefore it is very versatile and coordinates with most outfits. The combined effect of the silver tone next to the gold tone creates an appearance that is distinct and unusual. It shines and gleams. One needs to closely look at it to understand it. Again a wonderful and creative design created by Leiber! The purse is scalloped at the edges and the rim of the front and back is done in shiny gold tone metal. The design consists of 3 levels of clam shell curvy squiggles done in bright gold. They are slightly raised and are executed on a silver background. There is depth and dimension. The palette is highly detailed and it is mesmerizing. The front and the back are attached to another rim that is not seen but is done in a burnished silver tone. There is a sturdy piano hinge. A jewelry quality chain is attached on the outside. The drop is 14". The inside is lined in a silver kid leather. There is a silver tone "Judith Leiber" identification panel. The inside is very clean with only a very few signs of wear or usage ( the silver tone panel has dulled). The minaudiere measures 6 1/2" x 4"h x 1 1/2". This is an early Leiber purse. It is in great condition without scratches which would be common for its age. It was well taken care of.It is so imaginative as well as so perfectly designed and styled. Sure to be noticed and sure to receive accolades from others. Another masterpiece by Leiber! Condition: Excellent++ VINTAGE Condition
