During the mid century many gorgeous beaded purses were created in France with ornate frames and embellishments. This purse identified as "Chunn" was handmade in Paris and is definitely a purse on the high end of this genre. The body is composed of tiny black beads that are tightly sewn together. The bottom of the bag is wider than the top. The gold tone frame is the "star" of the bag. It is a shiny gold tone and etched markings cover the metal. The frame is clamper style and is carved out into a lovely curvy pattern. Intermixed in this open work are four mother of pearl cameos. They are oval shaped with a neutral brown background. Covering most of the surface are carved profiles of beautiful "olden" ladies in relief. These cameos "pop" and give the purse dimension and depth. The iridescent glow of the mop ladies adds a sparkle effect. The recessed black beads showing through the goldtone open metal work combined with the lovely mop cameos give this purse a elegant and classic look. The flat top of the frame is also intricately etched, a sign of a luxury bag. There is a rolled beaded black carry strap with a drop of 5". The inside is lined with a black satin fabric. There are two open pockets and the identification label stating "Handmade in France Chunn Paris" is sewn inside. The inside is in great condition with only a pencil point size mark. The bag measures 8 1/2"w x 6"h x 1 1/4"d. The bag is in wonderful condition with only a few age spots on the inside of the frame. This purse is timeless and sophisticated. It is sure to be seen but is not "in your face." Just like the beautiful ladies in the cameos!!!!! Condition: Excellent VINTAGE Condition
