The romantic image that comes to my mind when looking at this bag is a South American gaucho riding a horse across the plains wearing this bag as a cross body satchel. Of course, I doubt whether this is the case, however vivid fantasy is part of the charm of this bag. It is definitely different and unique. I've learned it was made by Aricuero Jerico Jorge for the Jerico brand. This brand employs artisans to hand make bags such as this one, each bag being slightly different from the others. Their bags use high grade cow hides, vibrant colors and pelts of different animals to create unique bags with a South American vibe. Actually this bag was made in Colombia during the 1970-80's. It is a satchel or saddle bag type. It is rounded and scalloped. It is similar to an accordion bag with 4 compartments at the side gussets which are made of soft bovine leather. There is a fold over flap. It is trimmed with shiny black patent leather. The front is highly decorated with colorful brown blend of cow(?) or horse(?) hair and bands of colorful leathers transverse the front. The bands are done in red and yellow leather with bright black patent leather. The hair sections are directly under the leather bands. There is yellow stitching throughout which is done in a scalloped pattern like the rest of the leather decoration. The fold over flap has a slender tab covered in hair that slips into a slot to close and open the bag. The back is a caramel colored textured leather. The carry strap is a thick patent leather with yellow stitching. It attaches to the bag with brass rings that connect to four soft leather beige loops. Another indication of incredible attention to detail. The strap is adjustable and wide and the drop is 26"-33". The inside is lined in caramel textured leather and unfinished raw hide. There are four inside compartments , three are open and one is zippered. One of the open compartments is an unusual one being that it is right under the flap and has its own decorative lift up flap. Sort of a "secret" compartment. The inside is very clean and shows no evidence of wear or age. The bag measures 10 1/2"w x 8"h x 3"d. There is an imprint branded on the back that says "Jerico" and some other names possibly "Aricuero Jorge." The bag is in great condition. The patent leather has some scuffs and could use a shine and there are two small pen(?) marks on the top side red leather and very minor scratches on the bag. Other than that, it is very clean. This bag is exciting, vivid and unusual. It is well made and is designed to be seen. And lets not forget, it can take you to another place on this planet if your imagination allows you. Now, that's a wonderful thing! Condition: Excellent VINTAGE Condition
