The statement of all statements! The belt of all belts!!!! This huge belt by Judith Leiber even exceeds Leiber's usual panache for ornamentation. It is a wide belt measuring 2 1/2"h. The belt is a mustard yellow. It is a buttery, soft and smooth material which likely is suede. The inside portion is lined with a similarly soft yellow leather. However, it is the buckle that astounds. Made of gilt gold tone metal, it is huge measuring 8" in width and it is almost 4" at its tallest point. It is done in a Florentine gold and has a Etruscan effect. The belt consists of three components. The middle portion is done is a somewhat "shield" shape and is does in open work which creates a design of tiny "holes." There is ornamentation throughout and a very large petaled flower is in the middle. This adornment has depth and dimension and being that it is domed, is not flat but is significantly raised. This is set upon a star design. There is a second flower below but it is not as large. There are three strands of chain which are attached across the piece and hang down beyond the tip of the buckle. An ornate panel surrounds the middle section on both sides. It is done in the same openwork and there is a small protruding flower in the middle of each panel. There are points and curves throughout the buckle as well as many small protrusions. This buckle is amazing....I have never seen one like it with such detailed handiwork. The buckle closes with a hook that fits inside a slot. The "Judith Leiber" signature is on the inside lettered in gold. The belt measures 31 1/2" wide . It is adjustable. It is a little stiff but can be moved with a little "muscle." The belt is in great condition. There aren't any significant signs of use or wear. This belt is like none other. I am speechless!!!!!
