This demi parure by Robert, circa 1960's, is reminiscent of jewelry made by Miriam Haskell or Stanley Hager. In fact, jewelry made by Robert or Fashioncraft is often mistaken for other designers since Robert uses faux pearls, colored stones, crystal beads as do these other designers. In addition, this company often set its high quality Austrian stones in elaborate filigree settings. Beginning in 1942, Fashioncraft was founded by 3 gentlemen including Robert Levey who later changed the company name to "Robert". The company folded in 1979 and their jewelry is highly collectible because of its high quality and evidence of skilled craftsmanship that is attainable at reasonable prices. This particular set is rare since it is done in silver tone, not gilded gold. It is not easy to find such a set. The choker necklace has 3 strands of delicate, eggshell colored faux pearls on both sides surrounding the center medallion. The pearls are feminine and give the necklace a wonderful softness. The middle medallion is so Haskellique. Stones and faux pearls are set on a silver tone metal background. There are flowers made from tiny faux pearls and more flowers created from shiny rhinestone crystals. In addition, single large and small prong set rhinestones are encrusted in the mix as is silver tone "star" charms. The crystals have a brilliant shine and the faux pearls have a wonderful luster. However, the biggest surprise is a stunning deep pink balloon shaped opaque glass stone that literally "pops" upwards in the middle. In addition, the addition of this stone provides a "pop" of color. There are "winged" pieces at the end to which the strands are attached and the necklace closes with a hook that attaches to an extender made of tiny faux pearls. The earrings are equally adorned and ornate. Again on a silver tone background that resembles a stylized heart, pearls and rhinestones are intricatively set. The stones are raised providing dimension and depth. In addition, if you look at the placement of the jewels, it is obvious that a skilled and imaginative artisan created these wonderful earrings. THey are of the clip on type and one earring is marked "Robert". The necklace is not marked. The set is in great condition. The back metal shows normal age indications but other than that, there isn't any issues. The necklace measures 15" in length including a 2 1/2" extender. The medallion is 1 3/4"w x 1 1/4"h. The earrings measure 7/8"h x 5/8"w x 5/8"d. There are no issues with this set. Although in its day, RObert jewelry was sold for high prices, today they are priced more reasonable than the other aforementioned designers. However, they are of comparable quality and exhibit the same creativity as these other more "famous" designers. This set is so romantic that it would gorgeous on the neck of the bride.
