Here is a wonderful English vinaigrette made in 1851 in Birmingham, England by the silversmith, Edward Smith. It is all English hallmarked including maker, date and assay office. It is sterling silver with a gold interior. There is a lion on the front of the box which was probably the family crest. The box measures 1.25 by 2.25 inches and is in excellent condition. It is a scalloped rectangular box with engine-turned flourishes throughout. A great piece of history.
