A small book of poems by a poet who later wrote of the Great War. One of them, The Proud Maiden, who ignored her lover as he rode to war, is prophetic:
The twilight star came forth so clear; I saw my love once more; They carried him on a silent bier With sad-faced bearers four; He did not listen my voice to hear And he looked up no more.
However, most of the poems in this volume, as suggested by the title, are concerned with the natural world.
About 7" by 4.75"; very well preserved but with some foxing.
