This is a very heavy jug. It weighs 2 pounds seven ounces (1112 grams). It isn't a particularly large jug or over-thick, though it is sturdy. It's just the high lead content in the glass (in the UK often called 'lead crystal') from which this jug is made.
It's about 4.8 inches high, and 4 inches across the top rim. Well cut but not over-cut, then deeply wheel-engraved around the belly of the jug with bunches of grapes, vine leaves and tendrils. Star cut to the base for added brilliance.
A Nineteenth Century jug, probably fairly early in the century.
