A late Nineteenth Century Japanese Imari vase, in the typically vibrant palette, with strong cobalt blue.
Decorated with trees and flowers, with some delightful birds in simple outline, it is lightly gilded, to bring out its rich colours. A feature of this vase is the attractively flared rim.
It measures about 11 1/4 inches in height, about 5 inches in diameter at its widest, and the diameter of the rim is a little over 5 inches. This is visually deceptive. I had to measure it again, but it is correct. A good sized vase for display - not too big; not too small. You could even use it for flowers.
In perfect condition, with probably some wear to the gilding, as would be expected given its age.
