A hand painted plate, dinner plate size but obviously intended purely for display. It has a rich puce border and a completely hand painted centre. The script on the back identifies the picture as Eagle Crag.
Eagle Crag is a fell in the Lake District in Cumbria, England. It is situated near the village of Stonethwaite where the valleys of Langstrath and Greenup join.
The plate measures about 9 7/8 inches in diameter (23.5cm). There is no damage apart from some slight scratching to the puce border, which I have done my best to photograph. Marked on the back with the blue underglaze Caduceus mark which was registered as a Trade Mark by Powell & Bishop in 1876.
