It would be lovely to find one vase in this pretty style and palette, and in perfect condition. To find a pair is even more special.
They measure six inches in height and about 3 1/4 inches in diameter at their widest. This Copeland mark identifies them as having been made 1851-85 at the Spode works in Stoke, England. The decorator's number 5 on each piece indicates that they were both decorated by the same artist, and no doubt at the same time.
Heavily gilded, and paying homage to - though not slavishly copying - the Japanese Kutani wares that were so fashionable at the time.
The price is for the pair.
