A beautiful Victorian locket back brooch in bloomed gold with a rope and leaf design and a tiny diamond. The locket back would most probably have been intended to hold a lock of a loved one's hair. This brooch is simple enough to have been used as a memorial brooch, but could also have been used to carry a lock of her sweetheart's hair, maybe while he was on another continent fighting one of Queen Victoria's many colonial wars.
Simply marked on the back TH and 9ct.
In remarkably good condition, with a firm C catch and strong pin.
A fraction over one and a half inches in length (4cm). It weighs 1.9 grams.
