The pictures in this charming 8 1/2" X 11" children's paperback book, A Live Hat by N. Nosov, are beautiful! Printed in the Soviet USSR, the drawings are by I. Semyonov. Notice the picture on the wall behind the boys with the sickle and hammer decorated rocket ship. Reviewer: I had completely forgotten this book, but seeing it had me reeling with memories of a summer evening and mum giving it to me – she'd bought it on the train coming home from work. I took it with no sense of gratitude at all, and lost myself in it immediately. That picture of the crawling hat was genuinely stirring and a bit scary! Lovely, crystal clear images of the entire book here. I love the one of the boys throwing potatoes at the hat! It was translated from the Russian into English by Fainna Glagoleva and published by Progress Publishers, Moscow, 1977. The front cover has two areas where the surface paper has been removed, most likely from sticker labels and the right lower corner is missing. The binding staples are in place and secure. There are some thin places along the binding which affects just the cover sheet. Pages are clean, bright and without creases. Please view pictures and contact me if you have questions. This book is a treat!
