Albert Weiss' smoky quartz colored rhinestones, meant to imitate fine German smoky quartz, were extremely popular with the glitterati of the day. A 1959 print ad promoted these stones as jewelry with the "Black Diamond Look". The public loved it and Weiss ran with it. The company, one of the most recognizable names in the industry, remained successful for the length of it's run, circa 1942-1971.
