Czechoslovakia produced some of the most beautiful glass jewelry, much or it from the first quarter or so of the 20th century. The necklace presented, circa 1920s-1930s features bilateral chains of opaque red round, oblong and ribbed cone beads, some with filigree brass caps and crowns. At center, an embossed two part bail is suspended with a lozenge shaped molded and faceted red glass pendant, it's double sided frosted upper portion delicately etched with flower blossoms and foliage framed by fine beading. Lower section displays transparent faceting. Genuine vintage glass and brass work from the Czech masters.
The necklace is a fixed approximate 15 1/4 inches long with early plunger style spring ring closure. Lozenge shaped pendant suspends to approximately 2 1/8 inches including bails. Largest round glass beads are about 11 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is approximately 34 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. Glass beads free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks with deep red color. We think they appear much more red in person. Glass pendant free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Brass bails, caps, crowns and findings have a rich, time acquired patina. No polishing has been done. Original early plunger style clasp secure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The necklace is signed on it's end connection ring with a partial: "CZECHCHOSLOV" for Czechoslovakia. It is difficult to read but present. Circa 1920s-1930s.
