Raised rosettes of peridot and topaz colored chaton rhinestones rest on beds of topaz marquises and chatons in these gold tone climber clip earrings from D & E, circa 1960s. DeLizza & Elster, founded in 1947, produced wonderul costume jewelry under it's own name as well as for Weiss, Capri, Carnegie, Hobe, Kenneth J. Lane, Kramer, Karu and others. It's jewelry has a distinctive look and although you will be hard pressed to find it's "Juliana" or "DeLizza & Elster" paper tag intact, it can often be identified by it's distinctive style and characteristic construction features.
Such is the case with the earrings presented. The large, splashy design uses riveted, raised rosettes on climber style bases. Flip them to discover prominent figure 8 solder puddling. The look and feel is textbook D & E.
The earrings measure about 1 7/16 inches x 7/8 inch with a 7/16 inch profile or height. Peridot chaton rhinestones are approximately 5 millimeters; topaz marquises, about 9 millimeters x 5 millimeters; largest topaz chatons, approximately 7 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is about 18 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All rhinestones intact, retaining colors and brilliance. No cloudy, off or dead stones. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. Rosettes retain shape and loft. All soldering secure. Gold tone finish intact, fronts and backs. Earring clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
As expected, the earrings are not signed. They are the work of DeLizza & Elster. Circa 1960s.
