800 silver jewelry, containing a bit more alloy than sterling silver, was often fabricated in European nations. The three piece set presented, circa 1930s-1940s, includes a nine link bracelet, clip earrings and ring. The set has a golden cast, akin to vermeil with wonderful tightly coiled wire casings surrounding the high rise bezel settings. The female profile shell cameos, each slightly different due to their hand carving, are in a caramel / cream color combination. The double linked bracelet includes nine cameos, the earrings and ring, a single cameo each.
The bracelet measures about 7 1/4 inches with push in box clasp x 3/4 inch with a 5/16 inch profile or height. Cameos are approximately 14 millimeters x 10 millimeters. Clip earrings are about 3/4 inch x 9/16 inch x 5/16 inch high. Cameos are approximately 13 millimeters x 9 millimeters. Rounding the set out is the ring, at about 7/8 inch x 11/16 inch x 5/16 inch. Cameo is approximately 16 millimeters x 11 millimeters. Size is about 7 1/2 inch - 8 inch. Weight of the three piece set is approximately 32 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components appear original and are intact. All cameos free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Hand carving lends each slightly different. Settings appear secure. Reverse cameo stabilizer rings / bands intact. Coiled wire frameworks complete and intact. There may be slightly indentations from handling / use but no crush or collapse. No polishing has been done. The set, as mentioned previously, has a golden cast, perhaps the remnants of a gold wash or perhaps patina from age. We leave polishing, as preferred by most, to the buyer's discretion. Bracelet push in box clasp and earring clips strong and secure. Ring retains shape with no dents or improper bends to band. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Minor age related wear only.
Each earring and the ring is stamped on reverse "800" preceded by what appears to be the letters: "CA" or perhaps "FA". It is difficult to discern. The bracelet is also stamped with a very faint "800" and also with what looks to be "WD" within a circle on the box portion. The bracelet marks, particularly the "800" are very difficult to see. The bracelet is a definite part of this 800 silver set. We are not sure who the maker is, most likely craftsmen in Europe. The set dates circa 1930s-1940s.
