In antiqued silver tone filigree, set with mirrored hematite like finished rhinestones (so called "black diamonds") this '50s vintage festoon and fringe necklace from West Germany is fit for a queen. Three large stations are flanked by smaller stations connected with bilateral filigree and ball chains secured with a hook closure and charmed extension chain. Stations feature dimensional, antiqued silver tone filigree work set with chaton and marquise mirrored rhinestones. Center medallion is suspended with graduated rhinestone fringe. The necklace boasts the signature style of Western Germany's filigree and rhinestone work during this period.
The necklace is adjustable to about 17 inches with hook closure and extension chain. Decorative center portions span approximately 5 1/4 inch with the center medallion dangling to about 2 1/8 inches. Maximum profile or height is about 1/2 inch. Marquises rhinestones are approximately 10 millimeters x 5 millimeters. Largest chaton is about 7 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is approximately 22 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components correct and intact. Antiqued silver tone finish intact. There is some tarnish or wear on some of the balls / links / chain toward the back of the necklace, revealing a brass tone base metal. All rhinestones intact, retaining mirrored hematite like finish for superb sparkling glow. (The "black diamond" look with the antiqued silver stone filigree is a knockout combo.) No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. All links secure. No dents, improper bends or collapse to metal components. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Original necklace hook is signed: "WESTERN GERMANY". Circa 1950s.
