Graceful and elegant, our '50s-'60s vintage swan brooch is luxuriously fabricated in sterling silver with a large finial shaped, peridot green art glass representing it's body or belly. The pronged and tabbed glass stone is unfoiled and open backed with rich diamond quilted faceting. Clear, round brilliant rhinestones accent the swan's feathers and eye. Beautifully designed and executed with quality materials and workmanship, the swan brooch remains a figural classic.
The swan is a generous, approximate 2 3/4 inches x 1 3/4 inches with a 3/8 inch profile or thickness. Although difficult to measures within it's setting, the art glass stones is about 25 millimeters x 15 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is approximately 24 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. Art glass stones free from abrasions, flea bites, chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Wonderful peridot green shade. All rhinestones intact and sparkly. There may be a stone here and there that has dimmed ever so slightly -- no dark or dead stones. Sterling silver framework free from dents or improper bends. No stains or discoloration. Sterling has acquired an age appropriate patina. No polishing or abrasive cleaning has been done. As preferred by most, polishing is left to the buyer's discretion. Pin mechanism strong and secure. No damage / no repairs. Correct and clean. Excellent vintage.
The brooch is signed within an oval cartouche: "STERLING". No additional marks are apparent. The brooch dates circa 1950s-1960s.
