Four pave' rhinestone encrusted rosettes topped with creamy faux pearls blossom atop an oval rhinestone studded framework gleaming with five unfoiled and open back set faceted ruby red art glass ovals. In period pot metal, circa 1920s-1930s, the brooch incorporates the fluidity of nouveau. Art Deco was right around the corner.
The brooch measures about 2 3/8 inches x 1 5/8 inches with a 7/16 inch profile or height (including pearls). Simulated pearls are approximately 5 millimeters. Red glass oval stones are approximately 10 millimeters x 7 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is about 30 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact, retaining sparkle. Please keep in mind that this is a vintage brooch and the stones will not sparkle as new. As with most cup set rhinestone pieces of this era there will be some age commensurate dimming. Imitation pearls retain nacre and luster. All ruby red glass stones free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Pot metal base free from dents or improper bends. Pin mechanism secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The brooch is not signed. It's subject matter, design, materials, construction and overall presentation suggest a 1920s-early 1930s vintage.
