Delicate sterling silver filigree showcases a bezel set oval faceted art glass faux amethyst in this '20s-'30s vintage Art Deco era brooch. Unfoiled and open back set, the art glass stone allows light to pass through for maximum color dispersion and glow.
Amethyst colored stones remained extremely popular from the late Victorian period through the 1920s. Set into sterling, as presented, the royal purple stone and sinewy silver compliment each other perfectly. The pins angular shape reflects the more geometric influence of the Art Deco movement while it's rounded, more fluid edges mirror nuances of Nouveau.
The brooch measures nearly 2 inches (1 15/16 inches) across x 1 1/16 inches at it's widest point with a 1/4 inch thickness. The oval glass stone is approximately 18 millimeters x 14 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is about 8 grams.
