Likely a limited run designer brooch, this '60s vintage beauty has all the features we love. A triple play of huge Bermuda blue dentelle faceted round brilliant rhinestones, a pair of large lustrous faux pearls and a dozen rauten rose cut faux turquoise cabochons, set in a variety of brass tone dog tooth, cupped and tulip prongs. Reverse of piece shows the complicated, multi layered construction including riveted, linked back bracing of turquoise glass cabs, high rise rhinestone cups, and pearl filigree backings. An extremely labor intensive brooch, mass production was unlikely. Presentation is awesome -- an attention getter in any circle.
The brooch measures a generous 2 1/2 inches x 2 3/8 inches with an incredible 5/8 inch maximum profile. Dentelle faceted chatons are a whopping 20 millimeters; faux pearls, 12 millimeters and rauten rose cut faux turquoise cabs, 6 millimeters. Weigh of the brooch is approximately 42 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All rhinestones free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Spectacular Bermuda blue color and superb brilliance. Faux pearls retain nacre and luster. Tiny flea bite at top of one faux pearl. All turquoise art glass cabs free from damage with wonderful, subtle mottling throughout. Brass tone settings have warm patina. No dents, improper bends or collapse. All soldering, riveting and settings secure. Pin mechanism strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The brooch is not signed. It appears to be a limited edition by a respected house -- perhaps custom made for a particular line or show. It dates circa 1960s.
Triple beams of blue, a pair of pearls and a dozen dappled cabs. Where else...but Cody's. Enjoy the ride.
