One of the most magnificent 1920s-1930s vintage Czech necklaces offered. It is a Front Page Feature piece. The bib style necklace is set with gorgeous faceted purple art glass chatons and ovals in brasstone filigree work with applied foliage. The huge domed heart shaped frontpiece is suspended with five dangles -- flat embossed floral finials with unfoiled and open backed purple art glass stones. The heart is flanked by domed elliptical medallions, again in filigree brasstone with applied foliage and complementing purple glass stones. The ends of the side pieces are finished with an oval shaped glass stone, attached via jump rings. The original embossed flat round link chain culminates in a push in box type clasp set with a purple chaton glass stone. Top quality design, materials and workmanship. Premium in every way.
The necklace is a fixed approximate 15 inches with push in box type clasp. The decorative center spans about 7 inches. At it's widest or longest it is about 3 1/4 inches including dangles. The heart proper is approximately 2 1/2 inches x 2 inches. Profile or dome is 1/2 inch. Weight is around 43 grams.
Condition is excellent / pristine vintage. All components original and intact. All purple glass stones are original, pronged and intact. Some are open back set and others are closed back cup set. (Cup settings are riveted to filigree work.) There are no chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. Brasstone filigree, applied foliage (leaves) and dangles have a wonderful time acquired patina. There is some slight age appropriate brasstone contact wear to reverse of stone settings and to reverse of box clasp. No polishing has been done. Push in box type clasp remains strong and secure. All links, soldering and rivets secure. No damage / no repairs.
Although the necklace is not signed, as was the case with many Czech pieces of the period, it has all the earmarks of this country's best work. It is authentic vintage -- 1920s-1930s. Czech necklaces and bracelets of this quality and size from this era are quite rare. In this pristine condition, remarkable. (See a bracelet I have also listed that complements this necklace beautifully).
One of the best examples of Deco era Czechoslovakian work I've seen. A superb compilation of all that makes these pieces desirable. Design, size, stone quality and color, castings and stampings are all top shelf. If you're a collector or aficionado of vintage jewelry and only the best will do -- this piece is for you.
