Little Nemo, a subsidiary of the Brier Manufacturing Company (1913-1978) marked some of their wares variously with LN/25, LN50, L/N (alone or within a diamond shape) or with paper tags. Not all items, as in the pair of dress clips presented, were stamped. Little Nemo does have a distinctive style and uses characteristic materials and construction. Base pot metal, seemingly random placement of colored stones and signature embossed clip mechanisms are strong indicators of this company's work. We are confident they are indeed Little Nemo, circa 1930s.
Hard to find larger sized pairs and pristine vintage condition make these clips especially desirable. Rarely do we see what appears to be all original stones with superb color retention and brilliance. Small pave colored chatons are set in apparent "haphazard" order yet result in perfect balance. Red, blue, green, gold, purple and pink stones harmonize with the occasional clear (white) accent stones. The clips retain their warm brass tone finish with a wonderful, bowed shield style, lending that unmistakable Deco touch. Beautiful clips and condition from Little Nemo.
Each clip measures about 2 inches x 1 3/4 inches with a 3/8 inch bow. Rhinestones are approximately 1 to 2 millimeters. Weight of the clip pair is about 32 grams.
Condition is excellent / pristine vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact and brilliant with premium color. All brass tone finish intact. Pot metal base retains shape with no dents or improper bends. Clip mechanisms strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Pristine vintage.
The clips are not signed. As referenced above, they display the undisputed characteristics of Little Nemo. They date circa 1930s.
