Accented with golden painted details, cream colored molded glass elephants pair with star patterned, graduated round beads in this marvelous '20s -'30s vintage signed Czechoslovakian ring of elephants. Orange glass seed bead spacers and an oblong orange glass cabochon push in box clasp complete the necklace. Czechoslovakian art glass was extremely popular throughout the twenties and into the late '30s with such famous makers as the Neiger Brothers creating cornucopias of colorful molded and pressed glass beads, perhaps most recognizably, in the Egyptian Revival style. The necklace presented features sought after, figural interpretations in Czech molded glass -- the prized elephant.
The necklace is a fixed approximate 16 inches with silver tone, side engraved, high cradle box type clasp. Largest round glass bead is about 15 millimeters. Largest molded glass elephant beads are approximately 22 millimeters x 16 millimeters x 6 millimeters. Weight of the necklace is about 30 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact -- complete and correct. Glass beads free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Gold painted highlights largely intact, with very slight, age appropriate wear. Seed beads and glass cab clasp retain wonderful, signature Deco orange color with no damage. Stringing appear secure with no slack or over pull. Of course, stringing material ages over time, so we can't guarantee it's future stability. No stains or discoloration. Clasp strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The necklace is signed on the reverse of it's clasp: "CZECHOSLOVAKIA". It dates circa 1920s-1930s and is guaranteed authentic Deco era Czech work.
