One of the most prolific vintage costume jewelry makers, the Weiss name is recognized world wide. In business for a relatively short time (1942-1971) Weiss ran the gamut of styles and designs, amassing an immense portfolio. In terms of sheer scope, Weiss certainly ranks in the top three or four vintage fashion jewelry houses.
The silver tone, domed, button style clip earring presented, circa 1950s, are set with pronged, black glass chaton and pear shaped rhinestones. They have a gently domed profile, measuring a generous 1 3/8 inches across with a 7/16 inch rise. Largest center chatons are approximately 10 millimeters; pears about 13 millimeters x 8 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is about 24 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All glass stones intact and free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. Inky, jet black color with superb luster / sheen. All stones secure. All soldering secure. No dents, improper bends or collapse. Silver tone finish intact, front and back. Earring clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Each original earring clip is signed: "WEISS" , no copyright symbol. The pair dates circa 1950s.
